What Urithi Means
The practice name Urithi comes from Kiswahili and speaks to heritage, continuity, and what we pass forward in families and communities. Urithi MentalWellness aims to be a source of strength, hope, and practical support for individuals navigating psychological challenges in Kenya.
The practice mainly draws from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Systemic approaches. A key strength is culturally grounded care, including an understanding of African cultural beliefs as part of how clients' presenting difficulties are understood.
Therapy can be conducted in English, Kiswahili, and other local Kenyan languages based on client preference.

Guiding Perspective
Ideas that shape our understanding of healing.
“As I grew up, I always wondered why people feel the way they feel, think the way they think, and behave the way they behave; and most importantly, how we differ in these aspects as individuals. As a young person, I was often commended for my instinctive drive to understand, help, and develop others.”
“I prefer to view clients as positioned on a wellness continuum, with my role being to move them towards better degrees of wellbeing rather than using terminology such as 'sickness', 'illness', or 'disorders.'”
